Our work
Three directions, one goal
The three programmes feed each other. Cases of pressure show where the weak point is, fact-checking shows how it gets used, and the training makes the next generation of readers harder to mislead.

01
Press freedom
We stand behind the people who ask the uncomfortable questions.
We track and document cases of pressure on journalists in Bulgaria — lawsuits over a story, advertising suddenly pulled, refused access to public information, threats. Each case is recorded to the same template, so that it can later be compared and the direction of travel becomes visible.
Once a year we bring the findings together in a report, which is free to republish.
- documenting cases of pressure
- legal orientation and referral to lawyers
- an annual report on the environment
- public positions on specific cases

02
Against disinformation
We take manipulation apart instead of merely denying it.
We check specific claims that are spreading widely and trace their route — where a thing starts, who picks it up, how it acquires credibility along the way.
Explaining the mechanics lasts longer than a rebuttal. So we describe the steps: next time they look the same, even when the subject is different.
- checking specific claims
- tracing how a story spreads
- analysis of recurring techniques
- materials for media to republish

03
Media literacy
One exercise is worth more than one lecture.
We run training for students, teachers and communities. We do not start with theory but with the phones in the room — everyone finds the last news story they forwarded to someone, and checks it.
We also work with teachers, so that the exercise continues after we leave, as part of their lessons.
- training in schools
- workshops for teachers
- sessions in community centres
- teaching materials free to use
